Job Description

Position Summary

Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) or more senior staff on sponsored research projects develops and performs complex standard laboratory procedures and also assists technical specialists in advanced research.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of moderately complex cell/tissue assays, culture preparation and/or analyses; also prepares moderately complex stains solutions, media, buffers, solutions and reagents for non-standard prescribed tests.
  • Operates, calibrates and performs routine maintenance on standard and specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Manipulates, computes and analyzes data using complex statistical computer software. Prepares and maintains detailed records, logs and summary reports of procedures and results including graphs, scientific calculations and statistical analysis charting
  • Responsible for Quality Control and Assurance of samples, reagents, and data. Ensures laboratory compliance to all guidelines and standards of WCM-NY and WCM-Q.
  • Cleans and maintains laboratory hygiene, disposes of laboratory waste.
  • Orders laboratory supplies, maintains laboratory equipment and related records, expenditures, including inventory control and material receipt.
  • Develops and documents methods to improve processes in the laboratory.
  • Assists in the review and development of new laboratory standard operating procedures.
  • Cross trains on equipment, coordinates vacations, etc with other team members to ensure smooth lab flow.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Experience

Three or more years prior experience working in a research or similar laboratory

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Previously exhibited individual initiative
  • Previously demonstrated advanced proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Previously demonstrated ability to communicate in both scientific written reports and professional presentations.

Work is approximately 30% is computer based, 70% lab based. May require extended and varying work hours to meet demands. Must be able to lift 20 lbs unaided. Work may include using chemical substances requiring careful use and the use of protective devices and clothing

Job: Associate Director, Innovation & Commercialization

Position Summary

The position will be responsible to lead, plan and execute all activities necessary to expand research opportunities and promote industry alliances. He/she will steer and facilitate all research innovation through grant reviews, entrepreneurial-education and partnering. The incumbent will provide the support necessary to faculty to move their scientific discoveries to market.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to faculty to find new funding opportunities with new and diverse sponsors.
  • Develops and oversees the implementation of Research Development strategies.
  • Establishes strategies and foster Research Alliances with industry partners.
  • Develops, refines and establishes Research Development and Research Alliance policies.
  • Provides support to faculty to facilitate disclosures and obtain intellectual property protection, coordinate the work with our central NY office (CTL).
  • Provides all support needed to faculty to move their scientific discovery into the market, through a third-party investor, the creation of new startups, or licensing agreements in consultation with CTL.
  • Expands customer base for WCM-Q Service Cores.
  • Liaises with Qatari stakeholders to assist with the development of national innovation and commercialization policies and procedures.
  • Assists with contractual review and negotiation of intellectual property and licensing terms and conditions in consultation with CTL.
  • Provides support to faculty and Grants & Contracts team to meet sponsors’ intellectual property requirements.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.

Education

  • Master’s Degree

Experience

Master’s Degree in Life Sciences and/or MBA with 11-12 years of relevant experience (PhD degree preferred) in higher education, preferably in research development or a technology transfer office.

Biotechnology/Biopharma business development and/or health care experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in working with the implementation of an electronic research administration system and have a broad range of computer skills.
  • Ability to grow and adapt within a rapidly changing environment.

Job Description

Title: Temporary Immigration Coordinator

Location: Qatar

Org Unit: Human Resources

Work Days: Sunday-Thursday

Position Summary
Responsible for full cycle support towards Immigration requirements and efficient administration of immigration services. This includes handling and processing of all official immigration documentation required by WCM-Q visitors, students, candidates, employees and their families. This role has primary responsibility for advising students and staff on topics related to immigration, Qatar regulations, travel etc. In addition, this role works closely with Human Capital and HR Services teams to ensure smooth operations of immigration procedures with new hires, departures and visitors.

Job Responsibilities
Prepares documentation in accordance with the State of Qatar and Qatar Foundation (QF)guidelines, to help WCM-Q staff and students establish residency in Qatar.
Prepares applications and processes where applicable documentation such as local health cards, Qatari Drivers Licenses, visa paperwork etc. for applicants, sponsored employees/families and students.
Ensures follow up until residency requirements are completed. Arranges appointments for medical screening, fingerprinting and other residency requirements in a timely manner.
Maintains comprehensive immigration database and follow-ups for maintaining up to date documentation of employees and student passports, residency cards, health cards and other important immigration related paperwork.
Coordinates with QF immigration office to obtain visas for WCM-Q visitors including family and visitors. Manages immigration documents and liaises related to WCM-Q travels and immigration needs.
Processes all shopping carts orders for all related items in the immigration unit.
Promptly communicates with employees about the status of their immigration applications/formalities as needed and to other to relevant parties such as hiring managers, HC/HR Services teams etc.
Drafts routine correspondence in English/Arabic and creates templates required for immigration procedures.
Tracks visa/work permit progress via immigration queue, updates visa information in HR system by maintaining/updating files, spreadsheets etc. and compiling statistical reports.
Creates, maintains, and updates electronic and paper-based immigration records, including SAP, to track all immigration documentation for employees and their families. Ensure records are input in a timely fashion and are kept up to date
Monitors the immigration hotline after office hours and communicates with QF staff for the desired results in urgent situations.
Assists in the review and translation of job descriptions and other relevant documents.
Performs other job-related duties as required.

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline required with 3-4 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
