About the role

As a Retail Maintenance Technician, you will perform work involving maintenance to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in order. Duties may involve pipe fitting, insulating, welding, machining, carpentry, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment, floors, cabinets or stairs.

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions; inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects; and test mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hand tools, or power tools.
• Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair; replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, by checking repair manuals, or parts catalogues, as necessary.
• Read technical information needed to perform maintenance or repairs; troubleshoot equipment or systems operation problems.
• Assemble, install, maintain or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, circuit breakers, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, equipment.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly.
• Perform general maintenance tasks including landscaping, painting, and carpentry.
• Assemble and set up new machinery or equipment as required.

Qualifications

About you

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

• High School Qualification with Minimum 2 years of job-related experience; or
• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 1 year of job-related experience
• Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field or any equivalent certificate

Skills:

• Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques.
• Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, public holidays, and evenings.
• Must be well-organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks.
