Job Description

About the role:

As a Business Finance Manager, you will be responsible for helping us achieve this ambition through:

Responsible for the support of business in all finance related matters mainly the preparation of financial and strategic planning, monitoring variance against the budget, forecasts, evaluating opportunities/risks/ improving efficiencies and implementation of cost control.

As a leader, the role will assist staff members in providing value-added, meaningful, and insightful reporting and analysis for Senior Management.

Key responsibilities

  • Identifying and addressing the financial impact of business decisions and strategic initiatives, ability to analyse and forecast business impacts.
  • Partners in business and make recommendations based on analyses to the business units and senior management. Works with the Business Unit Finance team in aligning on decisions and recommendations.
  • Accountable to present an objective view of the financial situation and provide sound recommendations for the allocation of resources in the most efficient way to achieve the business goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for monitoring monthly expenditure variance on an ongoing basis and ensuring that actual expenditure remains in line with plan.
  • Lead investigation when variances are significant and taking necessary control action as required.
  • Lead, direct and manage the preparation, execution and analysis of the budget and rolling forecasts for business units.
  • Responsible to lead the unit’s strategic business drivers to determine investment allocation, creating comprehensive and highly structured business cases for proposed projects, ascertaining investment cost and benefits to scope, dependencies, risk, and its alignment to strategic objectives.
  • Introduce a way of thinking culture that causes people with the authority to recommend projects to first consider their value, risks and relative priority as a fundamental element of submitting the project proposal.
  • Accountable for evaluating opportunities/risks/ efficiencies by providing sufficient information to facilitate fair evaluations.
  • Responsible to report on the KPI performance of the assigned group of departments.
  • Review internal controls and recommend enhancements
  • Able to present solid proof business cases to Cost Management Committee.
  • Ability to Enhance costing process of menu development and changes.
  • Regular review of general ledger accounts and ensures exceptional items are addressed on timely manner.
  • Enhance and continues improvement of systems and automations.

Qualifications

About you:

  • Relevant College or University qualification to min Bachelor’s level
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance Preferred
  • Qualified ACCA, ACA, CPA, CMA or CA or any other related post graduate level qualification
  • Minimum 7 years relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of internal finance system
  • Experience working to tight internal reporting timescales
  • Expert in costing methodologies and cost reduction techniques
  • Enhance and continues improvements of operational systems.
  • Knowledge of cost centre accounting, preparing budgets and forecasts.
  • Experience manager of a large and diverse team.
  • Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of records and information.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to review variances, understand business cycles and their impact in the profit and loss accounts.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are a must, as is the ability to work effectively across the organization.
  • Must have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have the ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • Must have excellent organizational ability to be able to set priorities, handle multiple responsibilities work interruptions and meet deadlines.
  • Must be self-starter and have the ability to work independently with minimal instructions.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Managerial skills – Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow.  Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate’s skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.

About the role

As the official partner for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2023, Qatar Airways will welcome a large number of fans to the country. To ensure our readiness, Qatar Airways Human Resources is preparing to onboard and train new talent.  As Project Analyst – Human Resources, you will oversee execution, monitor progress and manage risks for delivery of targets and goals to ensure HR readiness for FIFA event; role will report into Senior Manager HR PMO.

Other operational duties would include:

  • Support the Project Lead in building, recommending and executing a detailed project roadmap for HR project goals aimed at ensuring readiness for FIFA event
  • Support execution of project plans focused on successful delivery of the approved plans across HR areas in alignment with all stakeholders & internal departments (e.g. IT, Finance, other Business Divisions etc.)
  • Manage stakeholders & partnerships internally across HR and other departments (e.g. IT, Finance, Procurement etc.) to ensure cohesive, timely, seamless and effective delivery of project goals
  • Manage planning, monitor execution, organize review meetings, work with members from others departments and remove blockers;
  • Oversee plans to ensure buy-in from across HR, Business Leaders and other groups (as required)
  • Create, Track and manage budgets, track expenses and create reports for key stakeholders
  • Create business cases / spend justifications to warrant and track investments in project delivery
  • Ensure project issues and risks are identified, quantified, managed and tracked. Use past experience to proactively “anticipate” risk and develop appropriate mitigation strategies and plans
  • Ensure risks, assumptions and constraints are appropriately communicated to key stakeholders and escalated when necessary
  • Establish, manage and govern the HR project management framework (including policies, tools, processes, programs and forums)

Qualifications

About You

We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional to join the HR – Management Team

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years of job-related experience
  • At least 4 years of project management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Clarizen)
  • Experience working with broad diverse teams and senior stakeholder.
