About the role:

As a Ground Safety Manager, you will be responsible for helping us achieve this ambition through:

Reducing operational risks and sustain a culture that maintains the highest levels of safety, compliance, and integrity. To assure that a system of reporting, recording and investigating of all the occurrences is in place to identify the causes of the incidents and to find ways to diminish the consequences of these incidents when they occur.

• Acts as a main investigator of airside accidents, incidents and safety deficiencies.
• Responsible for conducting investigation upon each hazard or occurrence to the point where all associated risks are identified.
• Coordinates the activities of the investigation team to collect information from all the sources available to facilitate the analysis of factual information.
• Assure that necessary guidance is provided to the safety officers in responding to reported airside incidents and deviations from standard procedures and ascertain that the airfield safety operations are appropriately carried out.
• Collate, review and safe keep daily activity reports, accident/ incident / near-miss reports, fault/deficiency reports.  Brief Manager Airfield Operations daily on previous day’s incidents or other safety deficiencies.
• Conduct the analysis of all the factual information gathered regarding a specific incident in order to determine the appropriate conclusions based on the facts, including the determination of causes.  Conduct interviews in order to clarify the context for unsafe acts and conditions. Formulate the safety recommendations which are designed to prevent future occurrences.
• In the interest of accident prevention, the job holder is responsible to prepare and release the final investigation reports as soon as possible and disseminate them to all parties involved in the incident.
• Act as custodian of the occurrences database of the department. Prepare comprehensive statistical airside/landside incident reports and visual aids as may be required for discussion in the Safety Committee meetings and dissemination to all departments concerned to serve as a tool for gauging performance.
• Attend the regular Departmental/Safety Committee and Work in Progress meetings to discuss plans for airside construction I repair works I projects and review on-going works particularly those at parking bays, taxiways and the runway to ensure the movement area works create least impact on aircraft operations.
• Provide support to the Manager Airfield Safety and Compliance on all matters related to Airfield safety, oversees an initial response to airport emergencies involving aircraft or vehicular accidents and other safety issues on the airside.
• Conducts comprehensive Incident Analysis on a monthly base in which the incidents are analyzed based on a predetermined criterion.
• To set safety targets for all   outstations each year, ensuring that each station fully understands its responsibilities.
• Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department

Qualifications

About you:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent   with Minimum   6 years of job-related experience
• Must have attended   Aerodrome   Safety Management courses and other ICAO/ACI/IATA safety training courses.
• Must have attended safety courses focused on occurrence reporting and investigation.
• Must hold certification and proficiency in aeronautical radio communication.
• Attended the basic firefighting first aid application training and to have basic knowledge of firefighting equipment.
• Must be technically competent   both in the area under investigation, as well as in the methods of safety investigation.
• ICAO standards and recommended practices (SARPS) on airport operations and safety CM regulations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of airport operations and safety regulations and procedures.
• Good knowledge of airline ramp operations, policies and procedures, and cargo restricted articles.
