Job Description

Overview

  • The Electrician Journeyman installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, operates and maintains electrical systems and components of electrical power distribution and generating equipment. Performs operations and maintenance duties to maintain power to telecommunications equipment and maintains the facility’s physical electrical distribution system in good repair. Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and functions under his general direction. Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Program OMDAC – SWACA

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and repairs wire circuits including electrical equipment such as distribution panels, transformers, motor control circuits for motors and control devices for various electrical devices and supporting electrical wiring distribution systems.
  • Connects electrical distribution systems for remote locations to on-site electrical generating equipment such as diesel generator sets and electrical distribution switchgear to include installation of panel boards, branch circuits, breakers, switches, conduit, and wiring.
  • Provides technical support functions to UPS, Generators, and HVACs.
  • Responsible for inspection and maintenance of all electrical systems to include electrical appliances and outlets (to include GFI circuits, emergency lighting, and central fire alarm systems).
  • Performs start/run operational inspections on generator sets and full load/facility load tests, routine operational checks of all electrical switch-gear, power cabling, and transformers.
  • Installs or repairs any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, facility UPSs, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
  • Diagnose trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and using a variety of electrician’s hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.
  • Working knowledge of Exterior Secondary Power Distribution, Interior Secondary Power Distribution, Interior, Exterior, Perimeter and Area Lighting, Access Control System, Lightning Protection System, Grounding Systems.
  • Knowledge of MIL Standards and DOD customers is required. Must have excellent communications skills.
  • Experience with generator produced power and switching systems producing up to 380v.
  • Familiarity with the British electrical code and connectors.
  • Familiarity with Facility UPSs and smaller, rack mountable UPSs.
  • Familiarity with HVAC electrical systems
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

High school education or equivalent.

Experience

  • At least 5-7 years work experience in the electrical wiring industry, which shall include experience in planning, laying out, and installing electrical distribution systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), and shall have been under the direct supervision of a qualifying electrician for a licensed electrical contractor.
    • Electrical work experience shall include electrical installation in commercial and industrial categories.
    • No more than 75% of the experience may be in any one category.
  • Management/supervisory experience desired.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems including secondary distribution and interior systems to start with and include the facility service entrance conductors beginning at the low voltage side of the transformer.
  • Hands on experience of accepted trade practices which involve electrical circuits, power cables, controls, motors, bending of conduit, etc.
  • Hands on experience of tools, test equipment, and materials involved in electrical work, and the ability to read blue prints, produce basic single line diagrams and rough shop drawings.

Certifications

  • Accredited professional trade school or successful completion of apprenticeship program.
  • Possess a State Journeyman Electrician card.

Working Environment

  • Work is in an operational environment in Southwest Asia. May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty and extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Duty location is subject to both extreme hot and cold weather conditions. Must be able to meet physical fitness requirements to be deemed fit for duty and will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) e.g., helmet, body armor, fire-retardent clothing, hard hats, etc)). Estimated travel within theater is 60%. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Overview

***This position will be physically located in Kuwait or Qatar in support of LOGCAP.***

Under the supervision of Carpenter Lead and/or Trade Shop Supervisor, the Locksmith Senior installs, repairs, modifies, and opens a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults. Examines locking mechanism and installs new unit or disassembles unit and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts, or repairs them by filing, drilling, chiseling, and grinding; opens door locks by moving lock pick in cylinder; or opens safe locks by listening to lock sounds or drilling. Makes new or duplicate keys, uses key cutting machine, changes combinations by inserting new or repaired tumblers into lock, and establishes keying systems for buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Opens safes using drilling or manipulation techniques

Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must provide a copy of the diploma.
  • Must be CAC eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Locksmith certification required.
  • Registered safe technician preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a host nation Driver’s License, is required.
  • Must be a US citizen.

Emergency Vehicle Technician III (EVT III/EVM Lead) trained specifically to maintain and repair firefighting equipment and emergency vehicles, including fire engines, tenders, tankers, rescue, flight line assets, foam systems, air compressor, dry chemical systems, hazmat response vehicles, and utility vehicles all known as firefighting apparatus. Perform master mechanic level duties as required. Coordinates and performs highly skilled mechanics work. Maintains various types of emergency and fleet vehicles including equipment.

  • Automotive Services Excellence (ASE) T1 Tru T7
  • EVT Exam F1 – F6
  • Must be CAC eligible and/or the ability to obtain a CAC
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and host nation Driver’s License is required.
  • Host nation Heavy Duty Driver’s License.

  • Emergency vehicle technician LV III must have the technological and electrical skills to diagnose, repair and maintain the specialized equipment used on firefighting apparatus.
  • Mastered state of the art techniques, practices, procedures, test equipment and documentation used in all facets of maintenance performed on automotive, truck, first responder vehicles, and all other forms of vehicular equipment.
  • Mastered various mechanical principles as applied to power transmission and braking systems, engine electrical systems and hydraulics.
  • Mastered NFPA 1901 standard for automotive fire apparatus and NFPA 1911 standard for the inspection, maintenance and testing of automotive fire apparatus.
  • Mastered fault determination through systematic troubleshooting of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Must be able to set the standard for professional excellence among the EVT team.
