Job Purpose: The Space Planner is responsible for optimizing space and planning space to meet business objectives. Space Planner maintains space utilization data and facilities inventory on an automated or computerized system. Analyzes and reports on space utilization data. Space planners measure the dimensions of available facilities to determine where to place cubicles, desks, equipment, and other furniture and fixtures in the facilities. They factor in the number of employees to calculate the space allotment for each workstation. Before arranging rooms, space planners create drawings of their plans, often creating alternative solutions or modifications for workspace allotment and décor. Job Duties & Responsibilities: • Manages, maintains and updates a complex computerized asset management system and databases to facilitate and expedite the usability, accuracy, integrity and availability of data for campus planning and space utilization purposes. • Coordinates the development of space inventory data; manages information to analyze current space and facility planning. Makes recommendations to integrate into master plan, strategic plan and facilities planning issues. • Performs needs assessments for determining actual facilities, land use and space characteristics; develops space utilization recommendations and solutions to unique project planning, engineering and administrative problems as needed. • Assists with developing draft capital budget requests for facilities related to renovation, maintenance and construction projects. • Responsible for optimizing space utilization and planning space to meet business objectives. • Managing day-to-day organizational space assignments and charge backs. • Assists management in identification of problems, trends, or future space needs and makes recommendations. Profile requirement – • Bachelor’s degrees in Interior Design, Interior architecture, AutoCAD • Minimum four years of experience in a similar kind of role • Attention to detail, creativity, and organization skills • Excellent knowledge of space management computer applications. • Excellent knowledge of space utilization and facilities management.
