Our client have a requirement for a Senior Petrophysicist to join their Geological and Petrophysical Operations team in Qatar.

As a member of the Operation Geology and Petrophysics team you will contribute to our Client’s core asset areas and deliver maximum value in term of production, reservoir performance, investment and growth. Develop and implement subsurface strategies to deliver value from the assets

Activities will include:

• Provide operational support – Collaborate with Assets, Operation/wellsite Geologists and service providers. Ensure real-time & Memory log interpretations of both LWD & wireline logs including borehole images with strict adherence to company standards.
• Lead & Contribute to the data acquisition strategy – design logging programs and core analysis program (in collaboration with Operations Geologists, Asset Teams and Geology and Petrophysics Discipline).
• Generate initiatives & lead/support different projects/teams to achieve their project & technical objectives along with cost optimisation.
• In collaboration with Team lead/Discipline Manager, assure interpretations have been performed in accordance to Company Standards. Propose interpretation methodologies in collaboration with discipline.
• Lead specific projects/teams with respect to petrophysical issues, with the aim of achieving project or technical deadlines in a cost-effective manner.
• Perform & ensure advanced petrophysical analyses of Development, Appraisal and Exploration wells (validated by Team lead/OGP Manager) for volumetric assessments and reservoir characterization along with associated uncertainties.
• Act as reservoir petrophysical focal point by providing support to assets in the opportunity maturation process, including full support for well and pattern reviews.
• Advanced log interpretation- NMR, PLT, Image, Sonic, Cased hole saturation logs
• Ensure company best practices are adhered in the upkeep of the Company’s log and petrophysical database
• Collaborate with service providers, to ensure that company best practices are followed. Formulate data quality control measures to maintain consistent acquired data quality and ensure quality of receivables from service providers.
• Effectively justify technical analysis and recommendations and present these to line management, team, discipline and Project leaders (Assets)
• Awareness of ongoing petrophysical activities in the organisation.
• Represent company, as required, in committees and workgroups, presenting technical interpretations and recommendations
• Coaching & Mentoring of less experienced staff

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor of Earth Sciences, Physical Sciences or Engineering (or equivalent) or higher, with relevant work experience in Petrophysics and Formation Evaluation technique in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Experience of working in Carbonate reservoirs.
• Skilled in Petrophysical evaluation of LWD logs in horizontal wells & W/L logs
• Skilled in Image log interpretation.
• Skilled in Cased hole saturation log interpretations
• Skilled in multiphase Production logs
• Knowledge of coring & core analysis techniques.
• Knowledge of Saturation height function methods & application.
• Knowledge of geo-steering of wells.
• Knowledge of industry standard petrophysical data processing and interpretation software. Working knowledge of Techlog will be preferred.
• Knowledge of geomechanics
• Awareness of Advance gas logs.
• Experience with integrated petrophysical studies and petrophysical modelling.
• Extensive knowledge of vendor tools and different data acquisition practices.
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment and proved collaborations with other sub-surface disciplines.
• Ability to work within tight time constraints while delivering high quality technical interpretations.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills with proficiency in written & spoken English.
