Job Description

Stock Controller | Sports | Qatar

The stock controller will be responsible for managing the purchasing and replenishment of the retail products. The role holder is also responsible for maintaining the stock levels within the budget set by the business.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures that all inventory and stock management systems are maintained and updated accurately, and within the agreed parameters
• Receives delivered supplies, materials, and equipment; confirms that delivered goods match purchase order specifications of quantity, condition, model number, etc.; completes all necessary paperwork for stock items received
• Manages all stock movements in and out, and maintain complete log of all stock movement to ensure stocks are tallied with the transfer documents
• Maintains stock levels within the agreed inventory parameters; scans stock received and delivered and highlight any discrepancy, to ensure stock movement is logged and properly controlled.
• Maintains the storeroom and the allocation of space for stock; ensures the storeroom meets defined regulations
• Supervises the implementation of health and safety procedures
• Coordinates with Store operations staffs to identify and prepare damaged stock list to ensure the said stock is scanned, packed and sent to the warehouse after obtaining required approvals
• Executes weekly cycle counts of inventory materials based upon system reports; assists in conducting complete physical inventory count annually

People Management:

• Defines goals and key performance indicators for each member of the team and ensures effective implementation of the GMG’s performance management process
• Develops talent within the team by providing guidance and coaching to achieve the defined goals

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assists in formulating and implementing store strategies and procedures to maximize sales, profitability and commercial performance of all retail outlets in the assigned cluster of areas
  • Sets KPI’s and targets, monitors performance against plan and initiates remedial actions in case of discrepancy between actual and expected performance
  • Generates and analyses sales figures, forecasts future sales and interpret trends to facilitate area operations planning
  • Oversees the stores after sales processes and ensures full adherence to repair/return policies and procedures through proper communication with internal stakeholders
  • Works with the area managers and store management to ensure that store displays and inventory levels are adequate to meet the forecast sales budget
  • Monitors stock to achieve bottom line sales budget against monthly targets
  • Recommends and implements actions required to address stores experiencing decreasing sales
  • Works closely with the Loss Prevention to ensure that loss prevention programs are in place across all store locations
  • Tours the sales floor regularly, talks to colleagues and customers to help resolve urgent issues
  • Maintains awareness of market trends; understands changing customer attitudes and buying preferences and monitors the competition to ensure that sales opportunities are maximized
  • Ensures that all relevant communications are relayed in a timely manner to store management
  • Ensures that store schedules reflect a store staffing model that meets customer needs
  • Ensures that the team is adequately trained in inventory management techniques such as in-bound and out bound movement of goods, receiving, stocking, restocking, transfers and managing inventory discrepancies
  • Maximizes productivity in stores through effective deployment of resources; controls costs within budgetary guidelines (overtime, stock and consumables) through efficient store operations
  • Ensures all the stores follow employment and state laws, health and safety standards
  • Looks at prospective sites and evaluates new sites and coordinates with the Property Department to share inputs; oversees new store openings and re-fits.

Sports Division Specific:

  • Addresses customer issues and queries in a timely manner; manages customer retention and drives the team towards identifying in new accounts

People Management:

  • Defines goals and key performance indicators for each member of the team and ensures effective implementation of the GMG’s performance management process

  • Assists in maintaining proper coverage and schedule so as to ensure the store maintains high levels of customer service
  • Conducts store operations audits to ensure compliance with the required store standard operating policies
  • Oversees the store’s after sales processes and ensures full adherence to repair/return policies and procedures through proper communication with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensures customer needs are met, complaints are resolved and customer service provided is of exceptional standard; identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapports with potential and existing customers
  • Ensures that visual merchandising standards are achieved and that products are displayed in accordance with brand policy
  • Ensures promotions and pricing are accurate and in tune with company standards and policies.
  • Generates and analyzes sales reports and provides insights to maximize stock potential; reports on the performance of new and core collections
  • Submits daily invoices and sales recap to Finance
  • Executes store operations including cash handling, inventory taking and record keeping in line with company’s standard operating procedures
  • Maintains proper loss prevention standards and ensures compliance with cash handling, fraud and theft of products
  • Manages inventory such as in-bound movement of goods, receiving, stocking, restocking, transfers and managing inventory discrepancies
  • Ensures interior and exterior of the store are clean and maintained to company and brand standards
  • Directs the team to follow standard operating procedures and store appearance standards
  • Carries out the duties of a cashier (as required)
